Black
Rocket
Project: Initialize & Upgrade Computer System
MC's initial work for Black Rocket included internet access, network
design and configuration, e-mail, and general Mac setup. The transition
from empty office space to fully integrated, net-capable agency took
a matter of weeks and established Black Rocket firmly as a solid business
for its new clients.
Black Rocket is one of the newest advertising agencies in San Francisco.
It was founded by four advertising executives formerly of Hal Riney
& Partners and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Steve Stone, Bob Kerstetter,
John Yost and Mark Barden decided to pool their creative talents and
compete against the top agencies of the west coast.
Their first large corporate account was the popular internet search
engine company, Yahoo! Inc. Landing such a high level internet company
required the new start-up to install a comprehensive network of computers
in a short period of time. Their goal was to mirror the technology level
of their high profile client, enabling them to provide an advanced level
of service. Meeting this challenge required the services of a reputable
and experienced computer consulting group. Mann Consulting was the answer.
MC was called upon to do a full installation of several users. Mann
Consulting assisted in wiring the entire office, providing new hardware,
and installing all necessary software for the new machines. MC also
managed the installation of an ISDN line which enabled employees to
surf the web, send e-mail, and perform other internet-related tasks
all from their desktops. Serving a client like Yahoo! forced them to
have fast internet access and a fundamental knowledge of the web. MC's
web-savvy consultants also trained the employees on the basics of the
web's usefulness, further facilitating the transition process. The client
has not looked back since then, as MC continues to assist them in developing
and maintaining their computing systems.
