Image overload!
In 2005, Barclays Global Investors had amassed a large collection of high-resolution digital photographs for use in marketing materials. Their folder-based storage system was quickly becoming overwhelmed, causing lost time while their staff answered the question, “Now, where did I put that photo?”
BGI turned to Mann Consulting for a solution to this photographic predicament, and we came through with a system based on the flexible and powerful Extensis Portfolio media management software. Now those thousands of images are cataloged, tagged, sorted, and searchable. We even created a custom web interface for browsing and searching the photo library, complete with a feature that allows designers to communicate with the retouch gurus when they need an image beautified.
