Your laptop died. Now what?

A home-office client of ours named Sharon recently asked us about an international business trip she had planned. She asked, “what do I do if my laptop breaks when I’m on this trip? How do people function without their computers?”

Each of us relies on technology much more than before. From airline e-tickets to online banking, we’re completing more transactions in more areas of our lives. Yet we’re still using devices with fundamentally the same small, fast spinning hard disks that could break at any moment. What should Sharon do if her hard drive dies or her laptop breaks, or even worse if it’s lost or stolen?
